Homeopathy for health & diseases
Homeopathy is a holistic system of treatment originated in the late eighteenth century. It was founded by German physician Samuel Hahnemann (1755–1843).
Homeopathy is based on the following principles:
- Law of Similars (like cures like).
- Law of the Infinitesimal/Minimum Dose.
- Individualization. Illness is specific to the individual.
Hahnemann’s Law of Similars means like cures like. It is the basis for vaccinations. The vaccines act on the same law of similars. Vaccines provoke a reaction in the individual that protects against the actual disease.
Dr Hahnemann contended that if a remedy is diluted with water and/or alcohol and is succussed /shook in a particular manner then the remedy transfers its energy and actually works more effectively. The succussed remedy may have no chemical trace of the original substance but the electromagnetic energy of original substance is retained in the remedy and toxic side effects of the remedy are removed.
Homeopathy believes that illness is specific to an individual, means disease presentation/symptoms differ from individual to individual and hence no two persons receive same remedy though suffering from the same illness. Hence, the homoeopathic practitioner will ask the patient questions about his/her lifestyle, dietary habits, personality traits, genetics etc as well as specific questions about the nature of the illness and its origin in detail. Compiling this information is called as case taking.
Homeopathy can be used for numerous illnesses, both acute and chronic. In many cases the treatment is curative and in some cases it is palliative, when the illness is irreversible. It is also an excellent preventive medicine.
Homeopathic treatment scores highest among the various natural and holistic treatment options available. Owing to the safety and no side effects of Homoeopathic medicines, Homoeopathy is considered to be the ideal treatment option for infants and children. In some countries, it is seen that Homoeopathy is no longer considered as an ‘alternative medicine’. It is, in fact, fast becoming the most preferred system of medicine.
Homeopathic medicines are made from nature: plants, animals, or minerals. Homeopathic preparations may be tablets, pills, liquids, drops, or ointments and gels.
